LECTURE TITLE

VO₂max in the Age of AI: From High Performance Sport to Health and Longevity

VO₂max is a cornerstone indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness, traditionally assessed in
laboratory settings and primarily associated with elite athletic performance. Recent advances
in artificial intelligence and wearable technologies have transformed VO₂max into a
scalable, continuously monitored metric accessible far beyond high-performance sport. This
keynote explores how AI-driven modeling, big data, and personalized analytics are reshaping
the assessment, interpretation, and application of VO₂max across the lifespan. Emphasis is
placed on its role as a powerful predictor of health outcomes, disease risk, and longevity,
while maintaining its relevance for training optimization and performance diagnostics in elite
athletes. By bridging sport science, clinical practice, and public health, the lecture highlights
VO₂max as a unifying biomarker in the age of AI, supporting evidence-based strategies for
performance enhancement, health promotion, and healthy aging.
